Weekend Adventure

On Saturday I woke up extra early and headed towards the mountains of NC with some wonderful girlfriends. Our first stop was in Flat Rock at an adorable cafe and gift shop. We didn't eat there because we had a lunch reservation, but the food smelled delicious. The gift shop was very eclectic, and made for a fun stop.

love this plate.

I think these are shoes?

Genius.

After that we headed into Hendersonville for lunch and a stroll through the Apple Festival. I can't say much for the Apple Festival, it was super crowded and hot and most of the stuff was on the junky side so we didn't stay long.

We had made lunch reservations at a local American Bistro called Mrs. G and Me that's located in downtown Hendersonville. They make everything fresh and try to use all local ingredients.

They had a festival menu so you could only order off of it, which was a little disappointing. I ordered the Chicken and Smoked Cheddar panini. It was really good, the peach Dijon mustard sauce was amazing.

Chicken and Smoked Cheddar - $7.50
Our most popular sandwich! Grilled breast of chicken, Applewood smoked bacon, smoked cheddar and topped with our homemade peach Dijon mustard sauce.

And a cup of the most amazing mushroom soup I've ever had.

What proper lunch is complete without dessert?

Kilwins is my absolute favorite ice cream. I am so jealous of those that have one in their area.
I got half Fudgie Brownie and half Salted Caramel. The Salted Caramel may be the best ice cream I have ever had.

We spent the rest of the day shopping. Typical girls.
